B.S. Biology: Specialization in General Biology
(Non-teaching)
 

The B.S. Biology: Specialization in General Biology degree program includes consideration of the major concepts and areas of biology, including connections of biological processes with all sciences. With this degree students may enter a variety of careers in research, health-related fields, industry, or graduate study. Course requirements for the program include:

  • Thirty-two (32) credits in Biology as follows:
    BIO 121, General Biology I
    BIO 122, General Biology II
    BIO 200, General Biology III
    BIO 290, Biology Research Experience I
    BIO 390, Biology Research Experience II, or BIO 391, Internship in Biology, and

  • Biology course electives (13-15 credits from 300 and 400-level courses) to complete the 32 credits in the major.

  • In addition, the student must take the following 27-28 credits of related requirements:
    CHEM 121, General Chemistry I
    CHEM 122, General Chemistry II
    CHEM 210 & 211, Organic Chemistry I and Laboratory
    CHEM 212 & 213, Organic Chemistry II and Laboratory
    PHYS 121, General Physics I
    PHYS 122, General Physics II
    MATH 125, Applied Calculus or Math 124, Applied Calculus with Trigonometry

  • Students must also select a Minor. For example, a Minor in Science may be elected if the student completes CHEM 121, CHEM 122, PHYS 121, and PHYS 122 with a grade of C- or better.
