Jaltomata dendroidea is common in/among other vegetation, a more humid microhabitat than J. nigricolor found growing one minute walk uphill from the type collection of this species. J. nigricolor is "at home" in the open, dry hillside, receiving direct sun all day, where there is approximatly a meter or two separation of the shrubs due to the dryness. This species, in contrast, had no separation between it and other plants: it was found growing 3 - 4 m high on the other plants.

Seeds per fruit measured by T. M. was 217 coming from one fruit 14 X 19 - 20 mm. Leiva independently counted seeds per fruit from the same population, and reported 251 - 259 per fruit in the protologue.
